Our Story

We are a family business with a passion for creating boutique wines with distinct style and flair, using traditional French winemaking and growing techniques.

Established by Alan and Mary McCorkindale in 1996 with the planting of our own small vineyard in the Waipara Valley, in the South Island of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Welcome to the Waipara Valley

A Family Endeavour

We do most of the work in the vineyard by hand ourselves. Our family shares a passion for wine and working outdoors in nature. Alan and Mary first planted the vineyard in 1995 with French Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir. Since then we have planted small blocks of Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling including olive trees from Tuscany. Our children Alan and Monika love working in the vineyard when they are at home and helping with the design of our labels.

Alan is widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s leading winemakers with 40 years of winemaking experience. Alan has a long list of trophy successes in the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge in London.

“This is the best Southern Hemisphere sparkling wine that I have ever tried. Truly amazing!”
